On your side.

Before you sign with an IT vendor, call me.

Website, online shop, CRM or custom software. When your company hires an IT vendor, I sit on your side of the table. Like a lawyer, except I speak the developers' language.

You
and me beside you
The line is the table. The yellow square is me.

Sound familiar?

You run a company. Not necessarily an IT project.

And that's perfectly normal. You don't need to understand the technology. You do need to know whom to trust.

  • “We got a proposal, but we don't know if the price is fair.”
  • “In meetings I nod along, but I understand half of it.”
  • “The project is late, but the invoices arrive on time.”
  • “They charged three days for a small change that was really ten minutes of work.”
  • “We don't know who has access to our domain and server.”
  • “We've been burned once. We don't want it to happen again.”

The story of the mark

One square crossed the line.

  1. Before

You and the vendor sit on opposite sides of the table.

  2. The problem

They speak a language you don't. And they know it.

  3. With me

Someone who knows their world crosses over to your side.

The empty spot in the grid is the square that left. Now it sits beside you, and it stays there until the project is done.

What I do

Three ways I can be on your side.

Review before you sign

Send me the proposal on your desk. I review it, sit with you at the meeting with the vendor, and we work out what you actually need.

You get a one-page written opinion: what to sign, what to change, what to ask for and what it should really cost.

On-call IT advisor

For companies without their own IT department. Call me before you sign, pay or approve anything.

I review the proposals and invoices you receive and tell you whether they're fair. If you don't have a vendor yet, I help you find the right one.

Monthly

Project oversight

When the project is already running. Vendors come and go, I stay until the end.

I attend every meeting with the vendor, check the delivered work before each phase is paid, and I'm there for the final handover.

990 € / month

Monthly, for the duration of the project

For every project worth more than €20,000 I also check, free of charge, whether a grant could cover part or all of it. For the application itself I'll recommend a company that specialises in grants. For important meetings I come to you; everything else we handle remotely. Prices exclude VAT.

From practice

A client found a €30,000 proposal too expensive. We didn't cut the project. We applied for a grant that covered the full amount.

How I work

I play devil's advocate.

Every proposal, every suggestion and every “you really need this” gets questioned. If it holds up, great. If it doesn't, you find out before you sign, not after.

You pay me so you don't overpay them.

I know when something is three days of work and when it's ten minutes.

I ask the questions you don't know to ask.

I speak your vendors' language. But I work for you.

Fine words don't win me over.

No fairy tales, no jargon, no “that can't be done”.

David Tacer with his arms crossed

The yellow square

I know both sides of the table.

I'm David Tacer. I've been building software for 15 years, but I'm not a developer who doesn't know how business works.

I'm also an entrepreneur. I've founded my own companies and products, hired people, signed contracts and paid invoices. I know how a vendor thinks, and I know how a client feels when they don't know whom to believe.

I don't look like a developer and I don't talk like a salesman. I can tell those who can do the work from those who can only present it well.

I'm not selling you anything. That's why I can tell you the truth.

My commitment

The square stays on your side.

No commissions

I take nothing from vendors. I earn nothing from whichever one you choose.

No double roles

I don't build the projects I oversee. I never cross back over the line.

Price agreed upfront

The fee is agreed in advance and doesn't depend on the size of your project.

Frequently asked questions

Before you call.

Can you build the project yourself afterwards?

No. I don't build the projects I oversee. That's the only way I can stay on your side and tell you the truth.

We don't have a vendor yet. Can you help?

Yes. I help you find a suitable vendor and I'm there at the first meeting. I take no commission from the vendor.

The project is already running and stuck. Is it too late?

No. I join the next meeting with your vendor, review where you stand, and together we decide how to move forward.

Do you come to us?

For important meetings I come to you, anywhere in Slovenia. Everything else we handle remotely.

Can a grant pay for the project?

Often in part or in full. For projects worth more than €20,000 I check, free of charge, whether there is a grant or voucher you can apply for. For the application I recommend a company that specialises in it, and I take no commission from them. Once, a grant covered a client's entire €30,000 proposal.

How much does it cost?

Review before you sign €450, on-call IT advisor €490 per month, project oversight €990 per month. Prices exclude VAT, are agreed upfront and don't depend on the size of your project.

Before you sign, call me.

The first conversation is free and without obligation. Tell me what's bothering you, and I'll tell you whether I can help.
